Article 2.- Readers.

The borrowing of books will be granted to all people who, domiciled in the town, offer recognized solvency, either personal or by guarantee, to respond to the obligations contracted by the service user.

The solvency requirements will be understood as the following, without prejudice to those that could be incorporated:

  • Being registered in the municipality.
  • Being of legal age or having authorization from a parent or guardian.

Article 3.- Cost of service.

The book borrowing service is free of charge.

Article 4.- User rights.

The beneficiaries of the service will have the right to borrow books from the Library, except for those listed in Article 9.

Article 5.- User card.

The Library will provide users with a card (in duplicate) whose issuance will be made according to the requirements stated in the second article and will serve to accredit in each case the right to borrow books.

The card application will be made through a specific form from the Town Hall.

Article 6.- Validity of the cards.

These cards will be valid for two years and will be numbered consecutively, in accordance with a register kept by the Library, with the following data:

  • Number
  • Date of issue
  • Name and address of the user and the parent/guardian if applicable.

Article 7.- Obligations of the Reader

The reader who obtains the loan is obliged to take diligent care of the book and not to lend it to another person. They will be responsible for its full value in case of damage or loss.

Article 8.- Return deadlines for Library books

The maximum loan period will be thirty calendar days from the date of withdrawal, and failure to return the book within the specified period will result in a financial penalty of two euros for each day of delay, which will be enforced against a receipt issued by the Town Hall. Refusal to pay by the reader will result in the loss of the right to use the service for a period of five years, with the parent/guardian being jointly liable if applicable. In case of non-return, the Town Hall will initiate the necessary legal actions to ensure the book’s return.

Article 9.- Exclusions.

Encyclopedias and dictionaries, general reference books such as bibliographic treatises, catalogs, and large-format works, magazines, newspapers, and books with rich bindings and numerous illustrations are excluded from the loan. These can only be consulted at the Town Hall within the established hours.

Article 10.- Procedure for requesting books.

The person interested in using the Municipal Library’s book borrowing service must access the Alcalalí Town Hall website at www.alcalali.es, where they will find a PDF list of the available books in the Library. On the website, they will also find the forms needed for both the User Card application and the book borrowing request.

Once the interested party has obtained the User Card, they can begin using the service by submitting the book borrowing request form at the Town Hall’s General Register.

Two working days after submitting the request, the interested party can go to the Town Hall’s General Register to collect the requested books. The borrowing period starts from this moment, and the books must also be returned to the Town Hall’s General Register.

Each user may not borrow more than five books simultaneously.

Article 11.- Parent or guardian.
