II Carob sweets contest
The carob tree is once again the protagonist in Alcalalí 🌿🍰
To celebrate the 10th Edition of Feslalí “February is Alcalalí”, the Alcalalí Town Council is organising the Carob Sweets Contest, a gastronomic proposal that invites you to rediscover this fruit so rooted in our landscape, history, and agricultural identity.
Carob has been a traditional crop in Alcalalí for generations.
Today, thanks to its culinary versatility, natural properties, and value as a sustainable product, it once again holds a prominent place in both cooking and the town’s future projects.
This contest is also part of the Feasibility study on the commercialisation of the carob in Alcalalí, which focuses on gastronomic transformation and added value as keys to its revaluation.
What does the contest involve?
Participants must prepare a sweet in which carob is an essential ingredient, whether in the form of flour, paste, or syrup.
Both creativity and gastronomic quality, as well as the link to tradition and local products, will be valued.
To facilitate participation, the Town Council will provide 300 grams of carob flour to each registered person.
Prizes
Three prizes will be awarded, each consisting of a €75 voucher to be spent in Alcalalí shops:
· Prize for the tastiest sweet made with carob
· Prize for innovation and creativity with carob
· Prize for tradition and local product
Free registration on the site www.feslali.com until February the 10th.
If you love baking, want to experiment with local products, or simply want to be part of an initiative that values our agricultural and gastronomic heritage, we encourage you to participate.
